Learn about the foundation skills that support speech sound development and how to use our models to talk to others about a child’s speech sound development.
You will use one of our models to carry out a structured observation.
Two. The Development
Learn about how we produce speech sounds and the ages and stages of speech sound development.
You will use our tools to carry out an initial speech sound observation.
Three. The Screen
Learn how to carry out a speech sound screen. I provide you with the tools that you need and demonstrate how to carry out a speech sound screen.
You will use the tools to collect your own screen resources and then carry out your own screen.
Four. The Patterns
Learn about speech sound patterns seen in typical speech sound development and the ages and stages of these patterns.
You will use the tools provided to identify speech sound patterns.
Five. The Strategies
Learn about strategies to support children’s speech sound development and children with unclear speech.
You will reflect on your own practice and identify your strengths and areas for improvement.
Six. The Skills
Find out about the links between phonological awareness skills and speech & language skills.
You will reflect on activities that you can use to support this area of development.
Seven. The Support
Find out how you can use a low pressure approach to support speech sound development and children with unclear speech.
You will bring all of your knowledge and learning together to reflect on a new systematic way of identifying, screening and supporting children with unclear speech.

This workshop is designed with your busy schedules in mind. Sessions are pre-recorded so you can access them online and at a time that suits you. Sessions have been chopped up into manageable chunks - each no longer than 30 minutes.
